Surf lesson at El Abanico
Start the day in the water. El Abanico is Maitencillo's surf beach; Escuela de Surf Maitencillo and Lafkenche offer lessons and gear rental.
Empanadas by the sea
After the water, something quick and filling: Empanadas El Hoyo is a local classic.
Lunch with a view
If you'd rather sit down: Punta Natural high above the sea, or Vista Mar on the waterfront.
Paragliding flight
With the afternoon wind, tandem flights take off from the southern cliffs. Operators include AndesFly and Parapente 5000; book ahead.
Market and waterfront stroll
In summer, the Mercado Aguas Blancas runs Thursday to Sunday. A good time to walk along Av. del Mar.
Sunset
