Dog-friendly getaway on the Central Coast

Where you can and can't go

Going to the coast with your dog is possible, but not everywhere. This is what the rules say and where you are welcome.

Where not

Throughout the municipality of Zapallar (including Cachagua and La Laguna), the Waterfront Bylaw (DA 2093/2022, art. 16) bans domestic animals on beaches, waters and swimming areas. On walkways and promenades they can go on a leash. Papudo's 2025 waterfront bylaw also bans animals on its beaches and swimming areas.

Where yes

In Maitencillo we found no published ban. Even so, in high season avoid peak hours and follow what lifeguards and inspectors say. More details in dog-friendly beaches.

VivExplora tip

Bring water and shade for your dog: the sand gets very hot in January and February.
