The coast off-season

March to November, without the crowds

Outside summer, Maitencillo, Cachagua, Zapallar and Papudo change pace: fewer people, quiet beaches and another side of the coast. What to know before going from March to November.

The good part

  • Empty beaches and long walks: the Maitencillo waterfront, the Zapallar promenade and the Pullally dunes are best without crowds.
  • Better surf: autumn and winter bring the most consistent waves. Beginners, always with a school.
  • Lower prices at places to stay and emptier parking lots.
  • Clear days after the rain, with the Andes visible from the hills.
